Once
again it was time for the good elves of the Swiss club to get out the
colors and all kinds of other items to decorate the Easter eggs for the
now famous Easter egg hunt which has been an ongoing event and success
for over thirty years, and at the same Sunnyvale park too. The weather
looked rather threatening the week leading up to Easter, but once again
the gods were in our favor and brought out the sun. This writer remembers
bringing her own children, now in their mid to late thirties, to this
Fest. The last couple of years these same "children" have attended with
their own off-spring. The Easter egg hunt has indeed become a multi-generation
ritual for a number of members and I hope that it will continue. After
all happiness
is about creating good memories. I overheard some comments that the food
was better this year than last, although as a neutral Swiss I cannot second
these comments. It looked to me as though everybody ate heartily and had
a grand time. The Easter Bunny also fitted better in his suit this year
than last which was good because last year an older child was overheard
remarking that the back of the bunny's neck was showing. Now, as in the
Oscars, it is time for the thank yous. Thank you to the club organizers
for another successful Easter Fest. Thank you to the volunteers staffing
the food line, the makers of the fruit salad and fabulous desserts, the
egg and Easter bag decorators, the flower providers, the folks who staffed
the drink sales stand, to Nik Goetschi for his enthusiastic photographer
service, and last but not least, the "setter and the cleaner uppers".
If I forgot anyone, many thanks to them also.
